Color in classical photography has been a topic of debate among professionals and artists for decades. Many were against his recognition in the art of photography, saying that color was just tinsel, distracting from the true visual forms in the space of the frame. Others argued that color opens up new possibilities for expressing the author's thoughts. Bruno Barbey was one of those young photographers who decided to explore the possibilities of color. By choosing this path, he became a recognized master of color photography, finding his own unique ways of photographic storytelling.

What is the role of color in classical photography? There have been arguments over this issue for decades. Some artists consider color to be an unnecessary element in conveying visual forms, while others view it as a path to new opportunities in revealing the author’s vision of space. Such researchers of the path of color in the world of form include Bruno Barbey, a recognized master of photography who has found his own, unique ways of color transmission of photographic information.

French by birth, Bruno Barbie was born in Morocco. Barbie's career as a photographer begins in the 60s of the last century. Having successfully completed his studies in photography at the Swiss university École des Arts et Métiers, Bruno collaborates with the French magazine Éditions Rencontre, as well as with the world famous Vogue.

The young photographer's first successes were evident in his photo reviews of Italian life and photo reports of student unrest in France.

Interest in people's lives, identifying characters and photographic representation of social realities continues in the subsequent works of Bruno Barbie. Thus, the photographer’s study of the Polish historical heritage, together with recording the events of the late 1970s, took shape in the famous book “Poland”.

Sincere interest in life ordinary people, Bruno Barbie guides them through countries and continents through their hopes and feelings, troubles and joys.
