In the Mogilev region consumer cooperatives organized in 1909, in July 1917 they joined the All-Belarusian Union of Consumer Societies and subsequently developed in a single cooperative system.

In the 20s In the 20th century, the cooperation of the Mogilev region was part of the Gomel Provincial Consumer Union, as the Mogilev regional branch, and its chairman was Dmitry Kirillovich Mironov, after whom one of the streets of our city is named today.

In 1923, in the Mogilev branch of the provincial consumer union there were 32 multi-shops, 3 single-shops, 3 city and local unified consumer societies (EPO).

Cooperation was formed and gained strength. This is evidenced by the following figures: in 1923 specific gravity Consumer cooperation in Belarus accounted for only 18.6% of total retail trade turnover, state trade only 2.1%, and almost 80% of trade turnover was owned by private traders. In that difficult period Mironov had to head the Mogilev branch of the provincial consumer union.

In addition to organizing the supply of goods to the population and the procurement of bread, the district department also patronized the Pechersk orphanage (these were children from the Volga region), which was reorganized into a lower agricultural school. The school was provided with food, the pupils were clothed and wearing shoes, the land was sown, and the premises were renovated.

The Mogilev Regional Consumer Union was formed as an independent body in July 1938. At that time, it included 20 regional consumer unions.
In 1940, in the system of the Mogilev Regional Consumer Union there were 179 consumer societies, 1665 shops, shops, stalls, incl. 149 villages, 39 enterprises Catering. The needs of the society united 265 thousand 397 shareholders. Retail trade turnover in 1940 was 304 million rubles.

During the Great Patriotic War the situation changed dramatically. During this period, 1,340 shops, shops, 40 warehouses and bases, 24 bakeries, and all 39 public catering establishments were completely destroyed. The total damage caused to consumer cooperation in the region by this war was estimated at almost 270 million rubles.

Since September 1943, the board of the Mogilev Regional Consumer Union resumed its work in the city of Krichev and from that time the restoration of cooperative farming in the eastern regions of the region liberated from the fascist invaders immediately began. However, consumer cooperation was restored at a faster pace in 1944, when the entire territory of the region was liberated.

As of January 1, 1949 commercial network consumer cooperation in the region was restored to 70.8% compared to the pre-war level.
By 1950, the pre-war network of catering establishments was not only restored, but also significantly expanded. Only 52 canteens appeared, while before the war their number was 39.

The following years were the most effective in the activities of consumer cooperation in the region. This, apparently, was facilitated by the socio-economic situation in the country, and the improvement of work with personnel, the growth of their education, economic and organizational training, the increase in moral and financial incentives workers.

Improved and organizational structure consumer cooperation, experiments with raipo were carried out on a large scale, scientific achievements were actively introduced, as well as the experience of advanced teams and workers. There was a need to open our own educational institution.
