Google, together with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, announced the results of the popular vote “Away from Capitals”. The project was created to make known those who are changing the lives of regions for the better in a variety of areas - culture, sports, technology, business, tourism or the social sphere.

From more than two thousand applications, a team of experts selected about 600 projects, then a star-studded jury selected six finalists in each of seven categories. As part of the project, our TV channel created its own special category “NTV Choice”. The winners were the seven participants for whom the most Russian residents voted in a Google search.

Among the winners of the project “Far from Capitals” are social, educational and cultural initiatives residents of Russian cities and villages. NTV on its social media accounts talked about the participants in videos from the “In a Minute” (#For a Minute) section.

The winner in the Culture category was Valentina Dymchenko from Chita. Valentina and her colleagues always dreamed of making their hometown comfortable and modern. And they launched the “Beautiful Chita” project, aimed at improving the city through good deeds. Valentina and other residents of the city created stunning thematic sculptures from dried trees, decorated a house in a residential area with graffiti depicting a simple Transbaikal football boy, an ice town was built according to their design, and now the first stage of improvement of one of the main squares of the city is nearing completion, as well initiated by the group.

Winner in the category “Production and Crafts” Maria Tikhonova (Rostov-on-Don). “Through Your Eyes” an inclusive pottery workshop where blind people study and work. And if at the first stage Maria’s team conducted classes for four people, then eight months later the author of the project managed to win a grant, which made it possible to open a fully equipped workshop in the city center. And today, blind craftsmen independently make products using various techniques, conduct classes for more than 60 people and earn money.

Winner in the Russian Tourism category Viktor Reshetnikov (Komsomolsk-on-Amur). Project “Planet Taiga” movement of enthusiasts promoting the amazing beauty of their native land. Victor and his team started their journey as organizers of weekend trips, and today they are preparing the third season of films about the protected nature of the Khabarovsk Territory and have three unique eco-festivals under their belt. The Planet Taiga project receives prestigious awards, including national ones.


Winner in the “Sports, Healthy Lifestyle” category Lyubov Brovko (Tyumen). The Chance project helps teenagers find positive ways to develop through spending time together with their mentors. Sports activities help children to burn off their energy, have a positive time and choose what they would like to do after school. The “Chance” project has been held in Tyumen for the second year. In 2017, 46 teenagers and 40 mentors are taking part in it. Among them are representatives of youth communities and simply active residents of Tyumen. Together they visit different activities, including sports: football, volleyball, training in rock climbing and self-defense, a master class on skateboarding from the SibSub team, dancing in three directions.


Winner in the category “Modern Technologies” Ilya Smolyaninov (Chelyabinsk). The “3D Development” project was created to develop the technical potential of young people in the field of 3D technologies. It consists of three modules, including educational programs on modeling and making models in 40 schools in the city, conducting webinars with the largest suppliers of 3D equipment, creating an interactive hall, scanning exhibits and making tactile models at the Chelyabinsk State Museum of Local Lore.

Winner in the category “Training and Development” Bella Shahmirza (Erkin-Hulk). Bella’s project “Summer Creative School for Aul Children of Balapanlar” helps children living in mono-ethnic, socially vulnerable families and who do not have access to quality education. Bella and her team invited talented people from Karachay-Cherkessia and teachers from Moscow to conduct a series of summer school classes for more than 80 local children. Over the course of two summer weeks, they taught children about Nogai culture, organized theater master classes, practiced music, and gave lectures. The entire project was prepared in a month, from finding a team and raising money through crowdfunding to involving children.

Winner in the category " Social service» Bulat Zamaliev (Tatarstan). The main objectives of the project “KTsON: Digital Village” development of entrepreneurship and improvement economic situation rural areas through remote informing of residents of villages and hamlets about the forms state support and available opportunities, as well as the development of culture ecommerce in rural areas. At the CSC centers using modern technologies residents can easily use public services, apply for subsidies, place goods on electronic trading platforms, get information about vacancies nearby, request legal assistance and much more.

And the winner in the special nomination “NTV’s Choice” was Dmitry Zakarlyukin from Chelyabinsk. He created the social-entrepreneurial project “Veshchevorot”.

Thanks to a network of textile collection containers installed throughout the city, everyone can get rid of unwanted clothes and give them a second life. About 100 tons of textiles are collected per year: 80% is recycled, 10% is sold in charity shops, the rest is given to those in need. In 2016, the project provided assistance to more than 2,500 people, and provided jobs to 14 people. Dmitry became the main character of a news story on federal air.


The awarding of the winners took place in Moscow at a ceremony with the participation of organizers, experts and jury members “Far from the Capitals”. Authors best projects received a certificate for an individual session with leading business experts from Google to find even more opportunities to develop your business and achieve even greater success.
