Module 1

Topic 1. Ethics as a science

Purpose of the lecture: introduce the specifics of ethics as a science and a number of key concepts.

Summary of the lecture:

Ethics -the science of the essence, laws of origin and historical development of morality, functions of morality, moral values of social life.

Moral - This is a special form of social consciousness, representing a set of certain views and feelings, principles and norms, customs and traditions that regulate the behavior of people in society.

Moral - This is a system of historically established requirements, norms and rules of human behavior presented by society, loyalty to which is voluntary.

Moral– practical embodiment of moral ideals, goals and attitudes in various forms of social life, in the culture of people’s behavior and relationships between them

Moral consciousness- this is a person’s awareness of the demands that society places on him. Moral consciousness is based on a set of moral norms, principles, ideals and contains an assessment from the position of a developed system of values. Moral consciousness represents the ideal subjective side of morality and is mandatory.

Moral standards- these are social norms that regulate a person’s behavior in society, his attitude towards other people, towards society and towards himself. Moral norms determine the content of behavior, how it is customary to act in a certain situation, that is, the morals inherent in a given society, social group.

Manners- actually practiced, most convenient and profitable forms of behavior, established social habits arising from the actual way of life of certain groups of people.

Moral principles - one of the forms of expression of moral requirements, in the most general view revealing the content of morality existing in a particular society. In this regard, they serve as criteria of morality.

Topic 2. Lawyer etiquette

Purpose of the lecture: introduce the concept of etiquette and the basic rules of etiquette in professional activities

Summary of the lecture:

The professional and ethical culture of a lawyer is an integrative personal education that reflects the readiness and ability of a specialist to carry out personal business communication based on a humane, professionally tolerant view of clients and subjects of human rights activities. It reflects the systemic integrity of knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of professional communications, which make it possible to successfully solve problems in the situation of personal and business contacts within the legal field.

The purpose of regulating the professional conduct of lawyers is to: ensure the interests of society and citizens, minimize the risk of abuse of the significant opportunities of the legal profession, especially in its individual areas (law enforcement, court, prosecutor's office, etc.); protect the lawyers themselves from exaggerated demands; to justify the necessary and reasonable methods of social control over the activities of lawyers, since beginners and even experienced lawyers are forced to reckon with the fact that society constantly shows increased interest in the behavior of lawyers.

Two methods of legal regulation of professional behavior are used, which are closely related to each other: prohibitions to perform certain actions or damage the authority of the profession; instructions to behave appropriately in appropriate situations.

Any prohibition in regulating the professional conduct of a lawyer must be justified by the fact that the prohibited behavior may either violate the rights and freedoms of others or undermine confidence in the professional activities of lawyers. Without this, restricting the freedom of behavior of lawyers would contradict the basic principles of constitutional legislation.

Topic 3. Conflict as a social phenomenon

Purpose of the lecture: introduce the concept of conflict and basic strategies for resolving it

Summary of the lecture:

IN real life The conditions and causes of conflicts are diverse, some intertwined with others. A complex cognitive situation is emerging. It can be resolved only by taking into account the complex of factors that determine the conflict: objective (social conditions, etc.) and subjective (forms of awareness of the conflict, attitude towards it, assessment, etc.). Contents of the problem task: a) clarifying the role of social conditions in the formation of conflict; b) disclosure of the influence of the level of knowledge about a given conflict, information about it in society; c) identifying the consequences of the active influence of the socio-psychological factor on the conflict process.

The source of conflicts is social contradictions. Characterizing the main contradictions underlying the conflicts of Russian society is a pressing problem for politicians and conflict scientists. Their analysis in the educational process can be constructed in the following sequence:

Type of contradiction: its nature (antagonism, non-antagonism);

Subjects of controversy: social groups, organizations, government institutions, etc.;

Forms of manifestation of contradictions in politics, in public administration, in the behavior of the ruling elite, parties, masses, in public consciousness, in public opinion;

Methods and technologies for possible resolution of contradictions;

Estimated results of resolving the contradiction.

Despite the diversity of definitions of conflict, most authors characterize it as a confrontation between subjects with opposing interests, values and goals. However, the meaning of these conflict elements is understood differently.

The functions of conflicts in social life are contradictory, since the phenomenon of conflict itself is a form of expression of acute social contradictions. Hence the problematic situation associated with understanding the role of conflict in the process of change and development of society. The problem is being considered by representatives various directions in conflictology within the framework of two mutually exclusive approaches: 1) the perception of conflict primarily as a constructive and creative factor, as a source and driving force of change and development of specific social relations; 2) seeing conflict only as a destructive phenomenon.

Transferring the style of professional communication with convicted offenders in a situation of communication with other people, when this is not at all dictated by necessity;

A significant narrowing of the range of interests and needs, a decrease in their level, “coarsening” of the personality as a whole.

Causes the emergence and development of professional and moral deformation:

Specifics of the content and conditions of performance of official activities;

Personal characteristics of law enforcement officers;

Personal characteristics of the criminal world, the specifics of their microenvironment;

Structure professional and moral deformation of law enforcement officers:

Deformation of moral consciousness (individual and group);

Deformation of service relations;

Deformation of all professional activities.

Basic motives offenses committed by law enforcement officers:

Discipline: Professional ethics in the work of a psychologist
Practical assignment 1, Module 1. Professional ethics, values and ethical issues in the activities of a psychologist

Completed:
listener Pashnina Svetlana Dmitrievna
Teacher:
Sytko Tamara Ivanovna

Moscow – 2017
Task 1. Etiquette in the work of a practicing psychologist.

1 Question: How do the concepts of “professional ethics” and “professional etiquette” relate?

Professional ethics is a set of moral norms, rules, principles that regulate a person’s attitude towards his professional responsibilities, duty, as well as the relationships of people in their work activities. Professional ethics is the result of the development of moral self-awareness of professional communities - workshops, guilds, workshops, etc. in their desire to maintain, both in their environment and in society, trust and respect for the activities of specialists and for themselves.
The contents of professional ethics are:
♦ norms of behavior that prescribe a certain type of moral relationships between people that are optimal from the point of view of their professional activities;
♦ justification, interpretation of codes, tasks and goals of the profession.
Professional ethics as component morality is based on its general principles and attitudes, but considers them from the perspective of specific problems in various types labor activity.

Etiquette is a set of norms and rules governing social and professional behavior.
Etiquette regulates what is permissible and acceptable in a given society or situation and what is not. However, it determines only the formal side of communication, therefore knowledge of the rules of etiquette in itself is not enough to be considered a well-mannered person. Behavior in society cannot but be based on general principles and moral norms.
Etiquette (among ethicists) is traditionally understood as a fixed norm of morality, and each profession has its own etiquette. These are, for example, traditional greetings of buyers and clients by sellers and other representatives of the field
services.
Consequently, ethics and etiquette are interrelated: ethics considers moral problems in a broader sense, and etiquette specifies ethical standards and norms. Every problem related to etiquette cannot be solved outside of ethical guidelines.

Question 2: Develop a reminder of professional etiquette for a practical psychologist.

ETIQUETTE REMEMBER FOR A PRACTICING PSYCHOLOGIST.

The professional activity of a psychologist is working with the inner world of a person, with the human personality. And this object of work requires compliance with special principles and rules of ethics. Psychology has at its disposal such tools, the use of which requires special caution.
1) The principle of professional competence. When applying psychodiagnostic techniques, correctional, developmental, and consulting programs, the psychologist must know them theoretical basis and master the technology of carrying them out well.
The psychologist formulates conclusions and recommendations to the client, communicates psychological information to the client in an adequate form and in a language understandable to him. At the same time, he strives to avoid professional jargon and excessive use of technical terms.
2) The principle of non-harm to humans. The main ethical principle of a psychologist is “do no harm.” The process and results of a psychologist’s activities should not harm a person’s health, condition, social status, or interests.
3) The principle of objectivity. A psychologist should not allow a biased attitude towards any person. He must use methods that are adequate to the goals and conditions of the study, age, gender, education, and condition of the subject. Methods must be standardized, normalized, reliable, valid,...

17. Read this text, which addresses issues of office etiquette. Express your opinion on the issue raised.

- The boss forbade us to address each other as “you.” Even to him himself,” an employee of a company selling foreign cars told me.

- At first I blushed when I had to poke him: he’s all gray. Now I’ve learned to do without pronouns completely.

- What about clients?

To clients, of course, only on a first name basis.

Atypical, but still. Perhaps viable cultural norms will emerge from corporate ethics?

I once observed such a scene in a commercial bank.

A young, one might say, young manager enters the room where a middle-aged system administrator is sitting.

Will you fix my printer?

“So I connected you another one,” the system administrator answers, looking up from ICQ, and then, stuttering, corrects himself: I connected you another one, Maxim Evgenievich.

IN This bank does not practice democratic poking. Only from top to bottom. The boss pokes us, with whom we can only be on first-name terms and only very affectionately.

From passport officers, secretaries, mayors, and housing department heads, we get a new portion of the democratic “you.” Everything falls into place: the boss (from the conservative ones), the state and - for now - the old people need to figure it out.

18. Do you agree with the statement: “Politeness is an economic category”? Justify your position.

The most important stage of the job search is a personal meeting with the HR manager or employer. How should you behave during an interview to get a position? What can and cannot be done?

19. Read the text that talks about etiquette rules during a job interview. Share your own experience if you have been in similar situations. Have you made mistakes?

Bad manners? “Fly” like plywood……..

(How to behave correctly at an interview?)

1) Find out as much as possible about the company, prepare a list of questions to which you want specific answers. If they talk to you evasively, don’t tell you anything about the type of activity of the company yet, make an appointment not in the office, but in the hotel lobby, then there is a high probability that you are dealing with the so-called “ network marketing" If the company puts forward clear and precise requirements for the applicant, talks in detail about the working conditions and field of activity, then you can safely go to the meeting.

2) Think carefully about what you wear. You should not come to an interview in a T-shirt (even in summer) or an open dress, and even more so in flip-flops or sandals. Anyway optimal choice There will be a business style, this will give you respectability.

4) Come to the meeting in minutes 10-15 before the appointed time. Under no circumstances should you be late! If you are hopelessly stuck in traffic, call back and apologize for being late.

5) Prepare all the necessary documents and place them in transparent folder(file). Papers should be at your fingertips, and not in the back of your bag, where they cannot be found. so easy to pull out. You must take with you your passport, resume, university diploma, documents on additional education (certificates, certificates), recommendations.

6) Bring a magazine or newspaper with you so you have something to do while you wait.

7) Be sure to say hello to the interviewer, identify yourself, and act respectable and confident, but without swagger. Don't cross your legs - not everyone likes this.

8) Listen carefully to questions, do not interrupt, answer confidently

And complete, but without verbosity. Be truthful - lies are always noticeable. If you are faced with the need to provide information about yourself negative information, do not deny facts that are obvious and easily verifiable; it is better to try to compensate for them with positive data about yourself.

Practical work No. 5
Basic rules of business etiquette
Topic: Composing and delivering a presentation speech.
Goal: generalization and systematization of acquired knowledge, to be able to apply it in practice
Equipment: notebook for practical work, task cards
Exercise:
Find solutions to problematic tasks:
1. Patriotism is an important moral quality. Do you think being a patriot means:
- be proud of the symbols of your country;
- consider everything your own is better than what is foreign;
- keep track of the military victories of your state;
- love your people;
- “think about the Motherland first, and then about yourself”
Justify your answer.
2. If everything can be measured by money, then what amount do you think you would pay the offended person (or donate to charity) in order to get rid of the feeling of guilt for:
- broken promise in business;
- a lie that led to the loss of another person’s business;
- previous inattention to the mother who died;
- unreasonable rudeness with an employee who depends on you.
Justify your answer.
3. There is now a lot of complaining about the decline of morality. In what way do you think it is most expressed:
- in the bitterness of people against each other;
- in disunity for political and ideological reasons among friends, in the family, at work;
- in selfishness / “every man for himself”/;
- in the growth of crime;
- loss of ideals and value disorientation;
- the disappearance of an elementary culture of behavior;
- the fact that the connection between generations has been interrupted;
- in the distribution of pornography.
Justify your answer.
4. “The golden rule of morality” says: what you don’t want for yourself, don’t do to others. Apply it in various situations:
- two entrepreneurs argue about a trade deal;
- an old man needs the help of a young man;
- a thief steals the property of someone who has become rich by dishonest means;
- a hungry person steals a piece of bread;
- girlfriends/friends/ “wash the bones” of acquaintances:
- a citizen refuses to perform military service.
Is it universal? Golden Rule"? Is one rule enough for all occasions?
5. Violence is ethically immoral. But in practice it is often necessary to use it. Determine in what case you need to use it, if necessary:
- to curb crime;
- to carry out useful reforms;
- to gain and retain power;
- to repel an external enemy;
- for educational purposes;
- for business purposes.
6. Apply the single moral standard “Respect your elders” in various circumstances:
- on a commuter bus, where you have a ticket with a seat, but an elderly person has no seat;
- a senior respected employee asks to give up the day off and help him with the report;
- the boss expresses a deliberately incorrect opinion in a conversation;
- the teacher promised automatic credit, but now he refuses his words;
Write your answer.
7. Good is diverse. Look for different options for “kind behavior” in such situations:
- Your boss is unfairly angry;
- Your friend in the company lies shamelessly.
Write down your options for behavior.
8. The commandment “thou shalt not make thyself an idol” was originally directed against pagan idols. What is the moral harm of any idols? And isn’t Christ himself an idol? Justify your answer.
9. It is written: “Thou shalt not kill.” Who do you think this rule does not apply to:
- against mosquitoes;
- for all animals;
- on aliens;
- against the enemies of the Fatherland;
- on my personal killers.
Justify your answer.
10 We hope you support the principle of “thou shalt not kill.” Based on what motives one should not kill:
- because you will go to jail;
- because they might kill me in return;
- because human life is sacred;
- because no crime is worth life;
- because I can't resurrect anyone.
Give an answer to each statement.
11. It is written: “Thou shalt not steal.” The legislation of all countries provides for severe penalties for economic crimes. Does this mean that in these cases the moral norm “thou shalt not steal” is maintained and is this norm possible in the business sphere?
Justify your answer.
12. If you stole it “out of necessity,” used it and returned it, is this considered theft? Justify your answer from a moral point of view.

13. You can often hear the expression “white lie.” Do you share this point of view? How does this relate to the commandment “thou shalt not bear false witness”?
Justify your answer.
14. There is an expression “cut the truth” and “tell the whole truth in your face.” But we know that such truth is often offensive. How to combine truthfulness and delicacy? Which norm do you think is the most important? Justify your answer.
15. The ban on lying is one of the most ancient in the history of culture. Which lie would you condemn most:
- statement of the opposite of the truth;
- stories that are not related to reality;
- concealing part of the truth;
- self-deception;
- white lie;
- a small lie to achieve a big good;
- lying for the pleasure of lying.
Justify your point of view.
16. The condition for moral freedom is moral sanity. Who would you consider to be a morally insane person?
- a small child;
- a person in strong anger;
- crazy;
- an impenetrable fool;
- a person placed in a hopeless situation.
Justify your answer for each of the proposed options.
17. Give examples of situations from your life where the conflictogens listed below caused a conflict situation.
- Undeserved and humiliating reproaches.
- Negative generalizations, “labeling”.
- Insistent advice, instructions on how another person should behave.
- Indications of facts that are not related to the topic of conversation or that the interlocutor is not able to change.
- Decisive establishment of conversation boundaries, “closing” certain topics for discussion.
- Inappropriate irony, sarcasm.
- Swearing, cursing, offensive statements intended to “let off steam.”
Complete the tasks according to the following options: (option No. 1 – tasks 1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15,17)
(option No. 2 – tasks 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,17)
For each task you must give a complete, well-founded answer (with examples of real-life situations)

Reporting form: written work in notebooks for practical work.

Practical work No. 6
Psychology of industrial relations
Topic: Application of techniques for self-regulation of behavior in interpersonal communication.
Goal: to summarize and systematize the knowledge gained on this topic, to be able to apply it in practice.
Equipment: notebook for practical work, task cards.
Exercise:
Analysis of specific situations.
Situation 1. Imagine that your company is developing new system invoicing clients. The question arises of how much funds need to be reserved for detecting and correcting errors. One option adds about 40% to the total cost, but significantly improves the quality of information in the final database. Otherwise, you risk that some customers will consider your price too high. Will you invest an additional 40%? What factors will you consider when deciding this issue?
Situation 2. Ivan Gennadievich is more than a boss to you. He is the one who contributed to your rapid advancement in your new job. You often have lunch together and even play tennis. One day at the table, while talking about an upcoming computer upgrade, he mentions that XYZ Computer has given him $1,000 for a “good cause.” Ivan Gennadievich asks to forget about it. Two weeks later, you learn that XYZ Company has been awarded the contract even though ABC Computer's price is lower and your company has had reliability problems with XYZ's products in the past. Will you inform your superior about Ivan Gennadievich’s action? Why?
Situation 3. Ivanov is a reliable ally of your department. He defended your major projects to the CEO, such as the deployment of a large sales automation package, etc. You would probably have worked somewhere else if it weren’t for Ivanov. But suddenly you find out that Ivanov uses an unlicensed Lotus Development office suite, while Microsoft Office is the standard for the entire company. You offered him to buy a licensed copy, but he refuses. Your actions?
Situation 4: What should you do if you discover that your company has been doing double-entry bookkeeping on two different computers?
Situation 5. A company doctor began to notice an increasing number of cases of lung disease among workers who had been working at the company’s plant for a long time. She reports this to management and is asked to continue recording the number of similar cases, but not to tell anyone about it. The following year, as the number of cases increases, she comes to the conclusion that there is a connection between the outdated ventilation system in various areas of the plant and the number of cases. She informs the company's management about this, and she is again asked to continue monitoring, but not conduct tests and not tell anyone anything, so as not to alarm the workers. Does she have a moral obligation to do as she is told? Does she have a moral obligation to do anything other than what she is told to do?
Test. “Is it pleasant to communicate with you”
Answer yes or no questions.
1. Do you like to listen more than talk?
2. Can you always find a topic for conversation even with a stranger?
3. Do you always listen carefully to your interlocutor?
4. Do you like to give advice?
5. If the topic of conversation is not interesting to you, will you show it to your interlocutor?
6. Do you get irritated when people don’t listen to you?
7. Do you have your own opinion on any issue?
8. If the topic of conversation is not familiar to you, will you develop it?
9. Do you like to be the center of attention?
10. Are there at least three subjects in which you have sufficiently solid knowledge?
11. Are you a good speaker?
Scoring. If you answered yes to questions 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, you can count 1 point for each of them.
1-3 points. It’s hard to say whether you’re a silent person from whom you can’t get a word out, or whether you’re so sociable that people try to avoid you, but the fact remains: communicating with you is not always pleasant, and sometimes even difficult. You should think about this.
4-8 points. You may not be a very sociable person, but you are almost always an attentive and pleasant conversationalist. You can be very absent-minded when you are out of sorts, but you do not demand anything from others at such moments. special attention to your person.
9-11 points. You are probably one of the nicest people to talk to. It is unlikely that people can do without you. This is wonderful. Only one question arises: don’t you sometimes have to play like on stage?..
Methodological recommendations for implementation: to carry out solutions to the specific situations presented, you need to know the theoretical material of this section and your answers must contain a reasoned statement of your point of view.
Reporting form: written work in notebooks for practical work.
