Summer readings can be held under the motto “Remember: you won’t know the world without knowing your edge.” The program can be called “My native land is a big part of the Motherland”. The work of libraries on local history education includes three main areas:

The symbol of the program “My native land is a big part of the Motherland” is Grandfather-local historian. It is on his behalf that it is necessary to develop an insert booklet with tasks.

These are the words the Grandfather-local historian addresses to the participants of the readings: “Dear friend! Nice to meet you. I am the Grandfather of local history, I will lead you with the help of maps, books, riddles, competitions into the wonderful world of nature, I will introduce you to the history and literature of the region, I will tell you how to see the unusual in the ordinary. At the end of the summer holidays, perhaps you will receive one of the prizes in the categories: leader of local history reading, reader-artist, reader-writer, reader-visionary.”

The results are summed up at a general library festival, where the winners of the summer readings will be awarded.

Moral and aesthetic education, instilling an interest in reading

Organizing children's leisure time, attracting them to reading, broadening their horizons and developing children's aesthetic perception of the world around them have always been priorities in the work of libraries in the summer.

Traditionally, in many libraries, the campaign to organize work in the summer begins with Pushkin Days. Libraries hold blitz tournaments, literary marathons, and quizzes dedicated to the legacy of the great poet.

Such events are not just entertaining in nature, but carry rich information, the charm of a book, and awaken imagination. Creating a game situation removes the painful motive of “testing abilities” for children, and their inclinations and habits are revealed more fully.

Libraries can organize an entire city with its own “Entertainment Square”, “Crossroads of Hobbies”, “Boulevard of Health”, “Street of Good Deeds”, and its own publishing house.

Events held in libraries in the summer are developed taking into account the interests of children and adolescents, their age characteristics and are multifaceted: these are activity hours, puppet shows, theatrical performances, role-playing and literary games, competitions "The book gives inspiration" drawings "My favorite fairy tale", essays "My family's favorite book."

COLORS OF SUMMER! - ecological hour.

Goal: to develop a sustainable interest in studying nature in the summer months, to cultivate a love for native nature, and to encourage them to read books. All the colors that exist are splashed out by nature in the summer. All colors are rich and bright. Summer is the time of plants and insects. It's time to get acquainted with this diversity of life. The event is an entertaining trip to the forest, field, meadow. Together they learned what changes happened during the summer and that every month is wonderful in its own way. As the event progressed, the children recalled riddles, signs, and poems about the summer months. The event was held several times, including for the environmental team of school No. 11.

FOREST PHARMACY - theatrical ecological hour.

Goal: to introduce children to the world of medicinal plants, teach them to recognize them by reading books on natural medicine.
To maintain and improve health, people often use medicinal plants. The ecological hour “Forest Pharmacy” helped to get acquainted with medicinal herbs and learn to recognize them among the variety of plants growing in the meadow and forest. The puppet characters - Chanterelle, Wolf, Hare, Magpie - told about the medicinal properties of herbs, where and how they can be used, and for what disease.
The kids really love it when an event is accompanied by a display of these characters. The children listened with pleasure and great interest to the stories of fairy-tale animals about medicinal plants and their benefits for humans. To consolidate knowledge, the event “Find a medicinal plant” was held.

TRAVEL THROUGH THE RED BOOK - ecological hour

Goal: to instill in children a caring attitude towards the natural world, to understand their involvement in the conservation and protection of natural inhabitants living next to us in the same earthly home. Introduce the Red Book and literature about rare animals.
At the presented book exhibition “Nature has no extra” - various editions of the Red Book of the Russian Federation: animals, plants, birds, fish. Articles from the magazines “Svirel”, “Anthill”, “Filya”, which tell about rare and endangered representatives of nature. A review of books and periodicals turns into a kind of dialogue with the guys who vigorously discussed what they saw and heard. Each territory has its own Red Book, and we present an electronic presentation “Red Book of the Balakhninsky District”.

“KALEIDOSCOPE OF MAGAZINES ABOUT NATURE” review of magazines

Goal: To familiarize children with the concept of “periodicals”, to present and show environmental magazines for review.
Published in our country a large number of children's magazines and newspapers. Magazines differ from each other not only in names, but also in purpose. And we all looked through the pages of children's environmental magazines together. From issue to issue, they print materials that supplement the school curriculum. In magazines you can find useful and interesting information about everything that concerns nature. Moreover, all articles are accompanied by beautiful illustrations in the form of colorful drawings and photographs, each of which can be admired for a long time. Many people saw the magazines for the first time and became interested in the colorful, exciting publications.

“BIRD CONSULTERS” - eco-game

Goal: to enhance children’s knowledge about birds and develop cognitive activity.
In the animal kingdom, birds are the most colorful and attractive. Birds are a source of inspiration for poets and musicians. Many writers have works dedicated to our feathered friends, and how many folk signs associated with birds, people put it together. Eco-game makes it possible to remember the works of authors, solve puzzles, crosswords, riddles. More than 10 competitions have been prepared for the children.
When participating in the game program, the children are divided into teams. The kids especially love playful forms of events, as they have the opportunity to distinguish themselves, show off their knowledge, intelligence and ingenuity. The children learned and lively discussed their diversity, why they are so colorful and unique, where in the world they live the most, what they eat, where they winter, how they travel.

Campaign “Beauty Lives”

A leaflet calling for respect for flowers was distributed to all passers-by on Dzerzhinsky Square. In total, over 50 leaflets were distributed during the Campaign.

ECOLOGICAL TRAFFIC LIGHT - oral magazine

Goal: to draw children’s attention to the beauty and vulnerability of the natural world, to replenish students’ knowledge about nature through books
The oral journal is conducted as a game program. Each page of the magazine is a specific color. On the green page we will visit a green friend - the forest. While answering questions, the guys remember animals, plants and other inhabitants of the forest and complete the video task.
On the blue page of the magazine we are talking about a good friend and helper of people - water. Here are cards with questions, riddles and crosswords about water and natural phenomena. The red page of the magazine talks, of course, about the Red Book and about the animals and plants of our region listed in the Red Book, about the Kerzhensky Nature Reserve and other reserves. The Yellow Page is dedicated to the amazing creatures of nature - birds. Many writers and poets have works dedicated to feathered friends. The guys remember fairy tales and poems where the main character is a bird. The pages of the magazine allow you to show nature as a source of countless mysteries and secrets, and develop cognitive interest in nature.

HEALING LUKOSHKO - ecological hour

Goal: development of cognitive interests, broadening horizons, formation of environmental knowledge.
August is the time for the harvest to begin. Vegetables are always an integral part of our table, but not everyone knows that they are not only tasty, but healthy, and even have healing properties. At the ecological hour “Healing Basket”, the children re-acquaint themselves with seemingly well-known ones: potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, cabbage, etc. And also about how vegetables were and are used in folk medicine, the history of their appearance and spread in Russia . During the event, the guys share their taste preferences and remember recipes for preparing various dishes from vegetables.
7 people took part in the “Plant Flowers” ​​campaign, and over 30 seedlings were planted.
